“We might be able to help you do more than manage.”

Founded in 2022, the More Than Food project is dedicated to assisting Foodbank clients and families facing financial hardship. Our mission is to provide holistic support, recognizing that the challenges our clients face extend beyond the need for food.

Our compassionate Community Chaplains are here to work closely with anyone who is struggling. They are committed to walking alongside you for as long as you need, helping you navigate and access services that best fit your unique needs. Whether you require financial advice or support for your emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being, we are here to help.

At More Than Food, we treat every individual with dignity, aiming to alleviate feelings of guilt, shame, stigma, exhaustion, desperation, and mental turmoil. Our goal is to support you until you feel confident and capable of managing on your own, ensuring you have enough to live a fulfilling life, not just survive.

We have a dedicated worker from the Citizens Advice Bureau who offers free, independent advice on various issues, including the cost of living, benefits, council tax, debt, and immigration. Additionally, we collaborate with numerous charities and support services such as Homestart, Malachi, Pathways, Stars, South Staffs Water, and others to provide comprehensive support and advice.

We understand that hunger is about more than just food. Our approach includes offering compassionate, practical advice and support to all our clients in crisis. We aim to address the root causes of their difficulties, helping them build resilience and life skills, thereby reducing or eliminating their reliance on emergency food aid.

“We can’t promise that we will solve everything, but we will try our best to support you and help you find a way through this.”

If you would like to speak to one of our Community Chaplains you can visit us during Foodbank hours (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm at the Manna House, Thursday 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at St Andrew’s Church Leyfields).
